Chat posting limitations

Ray Meyer wrote...
I have one admin that has used chat to push a flash notification to the association. As expected, as parents decide to respond, it creates a lot of unnecessary push notifications. Perhaps an option for chat rooms that can be selected upon creation could be considered:

- Responses get pushed to everyone in the chatroom (default)
- Responses only get pushed to the chat room creator
- No responses permitted

Thanks!

      Hi,

Thanks for your feedback - I do understand your issue but we don't have short-terms plans to implement your solutions sorry.  However, we are releasing something to chat within the next 1-2 x weeks that should help with this problem...it won't solve it, but it will help on some occasions.

We are adding a 'like' button to a comment, with the ability to see a list of who 'liked' your comment.  So if a coach posts a message, parents can 'like' it, and only the person who posted the comment will get a notification of the 'like'.  So at times this will help reduce notifications from a comment such as 'thanks' by simply 'liking' a comment.

      Kind regards,

      Craig.

In our club, the number of chats has grown considerably, to the point where *most* members have simply turned off notifications. As a result, the perceived value of the product is diminished, and seen as an 'annoyance'. I would like to turn off chat notifications, so our members only get interrupted by important messages and not inane chatter.

              Hi,

The notifications for each chat thread can be managed by each member - from within the app they can simply swipe right to left on a chat in their menu, to bring up an option to turn notifications on/off for each chat thread as required.

So perhaps send a news article educating members on this function, as it will help reduce notifications of inane chatter.  But it's not possible for us to have it so only 'some' messages within a specific chat thread sends a notification and some do not.

We are also looking at developing the ability to 'silence' notifications in a future udpate.

              Kind regards,

              Craig.
